About Twin City Pediatrics
Forsyth Pediatrics at Medical Park opened its doors in the spring of 2003 in a small corner office in the Medical Park Complex. Our practice grew quickly! By Summer of 2008, we knew we needed more room and settled in to our new office at 2821 Maplewood Avenue. In October 2008, we changed our name to Twin City Pediatrics. Through all the years and all our exciting changes, one thing is constant: our goal of providing excellent care and personal service in a child-friendly environment. What does this mean for you?
Our medical staff has the training, certification, and experience necessary to insure that our patients receive high quality care.
We delight in seeing our patients at well visits from newborn checks in the hospital through college physicals and beyond! We strive to provide the most appropriate advice for parents of children of all ages, based on our training, experience as physicians and parents, and, most importantly, our relationship with you and your child.
When your child is sick, we will evaluate him/her by identifying symptoms and performing physical examination. Some children require laboratory tests. Most lab tests, including the tests for strep throat, urinalysis, and blood cell counts, are performed right in our office. We are fortunate to have the latest in radiology just up the street at Forsyth Medical Center's outpatient imaging location on Maplewood Avenue. X-ray evaluation could not be more convenient.
Our physicians have developed great relationships with the pediatric specialists here in town. Sometimes we send our patients to specialists who have a private practice in the community. Other times we call on the specialists at Wake
We firmly believe in the safety and effectiveness of our vaccines. For more on our position about immunization, please scroll to the bottom of this page and click on our Vaccine Policy Statement.
At Twin City Pediatrics, we believe in personal service. Our small office and limited staff size helps us get to know our patients in a special way. You are always welcome to call and schedule an appointment for ANY REASON. We are happy to see you for small or large problems. If you know you would like us to see your child, you do not need to speak with a nurse. Just schedule your appointment with our front office staff.
However, sometimes you might not be sure whether you need to come in. We are happy to help you decide. During office hours, a member of our nursing staff provides telephone advice from our office and can either offer advice or schedule you for a visit. Our nurses are in close contact with the physicians throughout the day and often touch base with us about patient concerns.
We also believe that when your child is sick, you should be able to come in and have him/her examined and evaluated that same day. Each day we plan carefully so that we have room to fit in everyone who calls for an appointment! We are planning to offer some appointments after 5 pm starting next winter. Stay tuned for more information!
Our office also will keep you informed about the latest illnesses we are seeing with updates known as Medical Messages to be sent via email.
At Twin City Pediatrics, we believe that children have a better experience visiting the doctor when the environment is designed with them in mind!
Our waiting room is separated into sick and well areas. Child-friendly movies play on TV screens in both areas. Books are available in our parenting library. For families who would prefer to wait in their car, we provide a restaurant-style coaster pager to tell you when your room is ready. Parking is available right outside our front door!
Each of our exam rooms is beautifully decorated with its own theme. Many of our patients can tell us their favorite room! Our themes are: cat/dog, jungle, bug, fish, beach, farm, cabin, pond, and sport. Click here to take a photo tour.
We believe in a clean office and working space. We sanitize all surfaces in our exam rooms between patients.
Stickers and Prizes:
Our little patients love to choose a special sticker when they finish their visit. Sometimes our patients have to get "ow-ies" (such as shots or blood draws). On these visits, we make sure they visit the prize drawer and pick out something special.
We love to give out our special office T-shirts at 3 year old check-ups and we love the free advertising!
