TCP Coronavirus Update May 2020

We want you to know that we've been working hard at Twin City Peds to ensure we continue to deliver safe, quality care during these challenging times.  Below is an overview of the many new processes we've put in place to allow us to continue to provide the care your children need, but also to limit exposure to you, your families and our staff.

New safety protocols for you

  • Separating checkups from sick visits:  In clinic, we are seeing newborns, infant and toddler checkups in the morning and older children checkups in the afternoons. We are seeing all sick visits as video visits, and, if needed, offering curbside exams in your car.  This allows us to continue to provide essential checkups for children in accordance with recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics.  We urge our families to keep up to date with your child's checkups so we can provide vaccines, monitor growth and development, and screen for medical conditions that require intervention.
  • Easy check in: We encourage all parents to check in online before your appointment using MyChart.  For checkups, there are additional questions our staff will send via MyChart for you to complete ahead of the visit as well (and in some cases behavior or developmental questionnaires to be completed prior to the visit).
  • Visitor restrictions: We ask that your child is accompanied to their appointment by one healthy caregiver only (no siblings).
  • Screening: All patients, visitors and team members are prescreened prior to entering the building.  Our staff will call to ask you about any symptoms within 24 hours of your child's appointment, and all our staff complete a symptom screening questionnaire and a temperature screening prior to reporting for work each day.
  • Masking: All team members are wearing a mask, and we ask that you wear one, too. Please bring a mask or cloth face covering with you. If you don't have one, we will provide a mask when you arrive.
  • Clean environment: In addition to thoroughly cleaning exam rooms between patients, which is something we've always done, we are frequently disinfecting public areas throughout the day.
  • Personal distancing: As always, our goal is to limit your time in our lobby with other patients, so we ask that you call from your car when you arrive so we can complete the check in process by phone and ensure your room is ready before you enter the building.

Video visits are available

We are now offering telemedicine video visits for a variety of appointments including sick visits, follow up visits for management of chronic conditions such as asthma or mental health conditions like ADHD or anxiety, and counseling appointments with TCP's very own counselor, Allison Chapple.

You may use MyChart to schedule video visits and to request in person checkups.  Many families have found this to be a convenient time to schedule telemedicine visits for a variety of concerns.  We invite our patients and their families to follow us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/TwinCityPediatrics/) and Instagram (@nh_twincitypeds) to see all our new updates on how TCP is available to care for your children going forward.

We care about you and your children and look forward to seeing you soon (in person or online).
