Charles Hayek, MD
I am excited to join Twin City Pediatrics! I was born in Knoxville, Tennessee and lived for several years in Virginia, before moving to Greenville, North Carolina for the majority of my childhood. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with my BS in Biology and MD, I completed my pediatric residency at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.
My wife, Marcie, and I met in Chapel Hill and were married as I started medical school and she finished her physical therapy degree. We moved to Shelby, NC in 1988 to join the Shelby Children's Clinic where I practiced pediatrics until moving here. We have three wonderful children and one active dog, Callie. When our youngest started college, we began thinking about starting a new chapter in our lives and the opportunity here at Twin City Pediatrics was the perfect chance.
I have always had a passion for working with children. In high school, I directed a children's puppet theater during the summers. During college, I counseled at a summer camp. So pediatrics was a natural career for me. It is a delight to partner with families to help them care for their children, not only to keep them healthy, but also to help them grow and develop to their greatest potential. I look forward to working with you as your children grow and change over the years here at Twin City Pediatrics!
